Our Story

A Dream That Took Root

Nuthatch Gardens is a small cut-flower farm with event hosting spaces — an inviting garden and an historic bank barn. Our season runs March through October, with peak blooms in June, July, and August.

We aim to bring you the best of locally-grown cut flowers — for your arrangements, gifts, events, even small-ish weddings. We warmly welcome you to see the farm and the flowers grow.

The Name

Why Nuthatch?

Our older daughter, on her first visit to the farm, requested hip-high waders to explore the creek. Our younger daughter sings her favorite songs to the field grasses and wildlife.

The farm is home to goats, chickens, bunnies, and cats. We watch for Baltimore orioles, nuthatches, chickadees, cardinals, and woodpeckers. We raise monarch butterflies and wander the trails along Morgan Creek.

My mother passed away from pancreatic cancer in December 2020, preceded by my father’s death in November 2020. The nuthatch — incredibly productive and practical, with ceaseless energy — embodies everything my mother was.

I need the nuthatch in Nuthatch Gardens.

We celebrate the daily surprises — indigo buntings at the feeder, river otters in the creek, great blue herons overhead, cherry tree harvests in the yard — while restoring our historic 1790s farmhouse and mid-1800s bank barn.

All of It Is Still Very Much a Beautiful Dream…

We invite you to come be a part of it.
